WINNIPEG, Dec. 12, 2018 (CNS) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.
Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May will face a no confidence vote later today; this comes following May’s Brexit deal having fallen apart. There are at least 48 Tory members of Parliament who say they no longer have confidence in May as leader. The leadership vote increases the chances of a pro-Brexit Tory taking over and going after a more dramatic split than May has been pursuing.

Huawei Technologies Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou has been granted bail. Meng will stay at her Vancouver home while she awaits possible extradition to the U.S. over fraud charges. A combined C$10 million was paid in bail money and Meng will be under surveillance.
The United States passed a five-year farm bill which included a provision which will make hemp a legal agricultural commodity. Under the bill hemp will be removed from the federal list of controlled substances and hemp farmers will be able to apply for crop insurance.
