Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Dollar, TSX down to start the week

WINNIPEG, Jan. 21 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar is down Monday morning along with the Toronto Stock Exchange.

At 8:48 CST Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7514 or C$1.3308, which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7541 or C$1.3260.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index was down 11.23 points Monday morning at 15,292.60.

The stock markets in the United States are closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Oil prices are up by 24 cents Monday morning. West Texas Intermediate crude is at US$54.04 per barrel after closing Friday at US$53.80.

Gold is down by US$3.30 Monday morning to US$1,279.30 per ounce.
