WINNIPEG, March 15 (CNS Canada) The Canadian dollar was weaker Thursday morning, moving below 77 U.S. cents in early activity as some technical stops were hit.
At 9:16 CDT Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7678 or C$1.3024, which compares with Wednesday’s North American close of US$0.7726 or C$1.2944.
Canadian household debt held relatively steady in the fourth quarter, with the ratio of debt to personal disposable income pegged at 170.4 per cent, according to Statistics Canada. That compares with 170.5 per cent the previous quarter.
The value of non-financial assets in the Canadian economy rose by 1.2 per cent in the fourth quarter, hitting C$10,769.0 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada.
The TSX was stronger at 9:16 CDT, up 39.36 points at 15,692.97.
