Winnipeg, May 23 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar dropped
against its U.S. counterpart Wednesday morning, pressured by losses
in crude oil.
Declines in gold bullion, copper, platinum and other metals also
weighed on the loonie.
The currency took some support from the natural gas sector,
which was higher on the day.
At 9:00 CDT Wednesday morning the Canadian dollar was at
US$0.7754 or C$1.2897 which compares with Tuesday’s North American
close of US$0.7821 or C$1.2786.
At 9:00 CDT Wednesday morning, the TSX was down 39.19 points,
or 0.24%, at 16,105.60.
