WINNIPEG, March 24 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was holding steady relative to its United States counterpart Thursday morning.
At 8:41 a.m. CDT Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7953 or US$1=C$1.2574, which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7955 or US$1=C$1.2571.
Statistics Canada reported that about 633,000 Canadians received regular Employment Insurance benefits in January, which was relatively steady with the previous month.
Crude oil was seeing some stability after Wednesday’s rally, with West Texas Intermediate was down by 0.8 per cent at US$114.02 per barrel.
The TSX was higher, up 63.17 points at 8:41 CDT, trading at 21,995.35 points.
