WINNIPEG, Aug. 8 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was stronger Monday morning, seeing a recovery to start the week after Friday’s losses.
At 9:21 a.m. CDT Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7780 or US$1=C$1.2853, which compares with Friday’s close of US$0.7732 or US$1=C$1.2934.
Broad gains in outside equity and energy markets contributed to the firmer tone in the Canadian currency, as investors showed an increased appetite for risk.
Crude oil was showing some stability after recent losses, with West Texas Intermediate up by 0.3 per cent at US$89.29 per barrel.
The TSX was up 105.83 points at 9:23 CDT, trading at 19,725.96 points.
