     WINNIPEG, Jan. 27 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was weaker on Wednesday, as losses in outside equity markets weighed on the currency.
     The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7828 or US$1=C$1.2775, which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7873 or US$1=C$1.2702.
     Renewed concerns over the global pandemic, as COVID-19 cases topped 100 million worldwide, sent many financial markets lower on Wednesday.
     West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down by 0.08 per cent, at US$52.58 per barrel.
     The TSX Composite Index was down sharply on the day, losing 354.98 points, or 2.00 per cent, to close at 17,424.43 points.
