A Prairie-based grain handling equipment maker has opened a southwestern Ontario warehouse to store inventory and handle support operations for its dealers in the province.

Ag Growth International opened its warehouse at Exeter, about 45 km north of London, on Oct. 18 and expects that by early next year it will store product there from its Westfield, Wheatheart, Batco, Twister, Grain Guard, Applegate, Union Iron Works and HSI brands.

The Exeter warehouse is also to provide dealer support, parts, assembly and service, the company said in a release Wednesday.

Alberta Crop Report: Rains in the south, dryness in the north

Rain fell onto the southern half of Alberta last week, while hot and dry conditions persisted in the northern half, according to the province’s crop report released on July 18.

The new location is expected to position Ag Growth to “better service existing and new customers and ultimately for sales growth in the eastern Canadian market,” the Winnipeg company said.

“This new location also provides AGI with the opportunity to reach new customers with its grain handling, storage and conditioning equipment.”

Ag Growth’s various businesses include portable and stationary grain handling, storage and conditioning equipment such as augers, belt conveyors, grain storage bins, grain handling accessories and grain aeration equipment, distributed in nine provinces, 48 U.S. states and overseas.

Its holdings on the Prairies include grain auger makers Westfield and Wheatheart; conveyor maker Batco; grain bin manufacturer Twister; and the Edwards Group, a grain dryer company.
