Online ag information company Farms.com has picked up farm journal Small Farm Canada and its sister publication for the mobile heavy-duty repair sector, Service Truck.
Farms.com, which operates out of offices at Guelph, Ont. and Ames, Iowa, announced Thursday it has bought the two titles from Victoria-based Southern Tip Publishing, whose partnership group is retiring from the business.
Small Farm Canada, which launched in 2004 and publishes a national print edition six times per year, “will be continued by the existing talented writing contributors, supported by the Farms.com team,” the new owners said in a release.

Service Truck, in print since 2013, publishes quarterly with readership in both Canada and the U.S.
“We know that small farms account for over half of all farms in Canada, and research shows their numbers have been growing,” Farms.com CEO Graham Dyer said in the same release.
Farms.com’s Canadian print assets already include Guelph-based ag journals Better Farming and Better Pork, which it took over in 2016. The company’s online assets include sites such as Agriville.com and AgCareers.com. — Glacier FarmMedia Network
