A crop input dealer northwest of Edmonton is the newest link in the Crop Management Network ag retail chain.
CMN, whose chain includes retailers in seven other central Alberta communities, said Thursday it has purchased the assets of Dow Fertilizer, which operates sites at Onoway and Mayerthorpe, effective Jan. 9.
“We are very excited to become part of the Crop Management Network team,” said Dow Fertilizer’s David Dow, who along with his staff will continue to work for CMN.
“This agreement with CMN will allow us to provide a full product and service offering into the Onoway and Mayerthorpe area, which will include fertilizer, crop protection and seed, backed by a high level of service and agronomic expertise,” he said in a release.

Dow’s catchment area “will complement CMN’s current footprint and will further allow us to utilize our strategic assets and management team to service local customers,” CMN CEO James Mitchell said in the same release.
The CMN chain is a joint venture between local employee owners and La Coop Federee’s wholesale fertilizer arm Agrico, which bought a 50 per cent stake in CMN in 2017 and has similar j.v. interests in ag input businesses across Canada.
CMN’s other operations include sites at Camrose, Daysland, Edberg, Fort Saskatchewan, Holden, Vegreville and Stettler. — Glacier FarmMedia Network
