(Revised Jan. 26) — DuPont Canada has picked up registration for another pre-seeding burnoff option for cereal growers in Western Canada.
The company’s blend of two Group 2 active ingredients, to be sold under the name Express Pro, is approved for a tank-mix with glyphosate products such as Roundup.
“More and more growers are using a pre-seed burn-off to get a head-start on their weed control,” said Jon Gough, DuPont’s product manager for cereals, in a release Friday. “Glyphosate alone may not give them adequate control on tough weeds like dandelion, narrow-leaved hawk’s-beard or volunteer Roundup Ready canola.”

There were no changes to the pulse numbers for 2025/26 in the October supply and demand report from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada on Oct. 17. So far it has translated into Western Canadian pulse prices holding steady.
The company said the new product, sold in Solumax granule form, is “specifically designed” for use as non-crop weed control before fields are seeded to wheat (spring, durum or winter) or barley, as well as for use in chem-fallow and post-harvest prior to wheat and barley.
DuPont said the new blend will give growers “extended control” of broadleaf weeds including dandelion, narrow-leaved hawk’s beard and volunteer Roundup Ready canola for up to 15 days after application.
Gough said Express Pro “delivers results that go far beyond what can be achieved by simply applying more glyphosate and the extended control will help growers manage second flushes of some key problem weeds.”
Growers can seed wheats and spring barley 24 hours after application, DuPont said. They may also rotate to canola or peas 10 months after spraying. However, the company added, farmers are limited to one application of Express Pro per year.
