A Group 5 and 15 herbicide combination for use in corn crops has picked up federal approval for application at a lower rate per acre.
Primextra II Magnum, sold by Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, has been approved for a rate of one litre per acre as part of what Syngenta calls a “planned yield management program” with Touchdown Total, the company’s glyphosate product.
In other words, the lower rate is to be used in a program with a post-emergent herbicide such as Touchdown Total in a glyphosate-tolerant corn system.
Other already-registered rates for Primextra II Magnum include 1.2 litres per acre for light weed infestations, 1.4 L/ac. for medium weed infestations, and 1.6 L/ac. for heavy weed infestations.
The lower rate for Primextra II Magnum is expected to provide weed suppression throughout the crop establishment phase in corn, the company said in a release.
