Newfoundland and Labrador’s most recent minister of fisheries is now the minister in charge of the province’s agrifoods file.
Premier Kathy Dunderdale on Wednesday named Derrick Dalley, MHA for The Isles of Notre Dame since 2007, as her minister of natural resources, a portfolio which includes responsibility for the provincial Forestry and Agrifoods Agency.
Dalley, a social worker and guidance counselor by profession, had served from October last year until Wednesday as minister of fisheries and aquaculture. His previous cabinet portfolios have included business and tourism, culture and recreation.
Dalley replaces Tom Marshall, who becomes minister of finance and will remain as provincial attorney general, a role he had held previously (2003-05, 2008-09 and since October 2012) along with the natural resources post he had held since January.
Three MHAs were appointed Wednesday to new parliamentary secretary roles in Dunderdale’s cabinet, but Vaughn Granter, MHA for Humber West, will remain parliamentary secretary for the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency, a role he’s held since last October. — AGCanada.com Network
