Chicago hog and cattle futures rose on Monday after choppy trading last week amidst evolving trade tensions.
Most active June live cattle contracts gained 2.275 cents to settle at 199.075 cents a pound. August live cattle closed at 195.825 cents a pound, up 1.975 cents.
Most active May feeder cattle futures settled at 280.950 cents per pound, up 2.250 cents. August feeders closed at 286.150 cents, up 2.475 cents a pound.
Choice boxed beef ended the day at $335.63, up $1.41, according to the USDA’s afternoon report. Select box beef closed at $315.85, up $1.89.
Most active June lean hog futures gained 1.800 cents to settle at 95.125 cents a pound, while July lean hogs closed at 95.500 cents per pound, up 1.900 cents.
Pork carcass cutout value ended the day at $92.78, up $0.82, the USDA reported.
