WINNIPEG, April 15 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, April 15.
– CBOT corn futures were stronger on Friday, hitting their highest levels in four months as solid export demand encouraged some fund short-covering. The May contract was up 4.5 cents at US$3.7850 per bushel.
– As of April 13, Ukraine has exported 31.9 million tonnes of grain during the crop year to date, according to the country’s agriculture ministry. Of the total, wheat accounted for 13.3 million tonnes, barley 4.1 million, and corn 14.2 million.

– Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture is looking to cancel a 10% import duty on corn in order to stem a rise in domestic prices due to dryness concerns with the country’s own crop.
– Untimely rains have slowed the seeding progress in France this year, with only 4% of intended corn acres in the ground to date, according to FranceAgriMer. That compares with 21% at the same point last year.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$208 to C$215 per tonne area as of April 8, which was steady on the week, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$232 to C$237 range, which was down by about three dollars on the top end.
