WINNIPEG, Aug. 21 (CNS Canada) – Brazil’s second-crop corn harvest is nearing completion, with 89 per cent off the fields as of August 18, according to a report from consultancy AgRural.

Ukraine is in the early stages of its own corn harvest, with yields averaging four tonnes per hectare, according to a report from the country’s Agriculture Ministry. The wheat and barley harvests in the country are largely complete, with total wheat production estimated at 26.5 million tonnes and barley at 8.6 million.

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were down by one to three cents per bushel, as beneficial rains in the Midwestern forecasts weighed on prices.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta ranged from C$171 to C$200 per tonne as of August 18, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were down slightly, at C$220 to C$235 per tonne in Lethbridge.
