Sept. 5 (CNS Canada) – Traders are carefully watching crop conditions in the United States as dry conditions and slow crop maturity could drag yields. Weather forecasts for key growing areas are calling for dry conditions for the next 10 days. Some analysts are now predicting corn yields of 165-167 bushels per acre, well below the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimate of 169.5 bu./acre.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were up 3.25 cents U.S. per bushel to US$3.58.5 per bu. for the December contract on 134,478 trades. That’s down 5.66 % year-to-date. March corn futures were also up 3.25 cents U.S., settling at US$3.71 per bu. with 39,212 trades and the May contract settled at US$3.78.5, up 3.25 cents U.S. with 10,501 trades.

Farmers in Belarus have harvested 7.5 million tonnes of all grains, according to the country’s agriculture ministry. In total, 5.221 million acres have been harvested as of Sept. 5, about 98 per cent of the cropland in the cropland.
The United States Department of Agriculture has allocated US$13.5 million for pinto bean purchases, US$10.6 million for small red beans, US$6 million for dark red kidney beans, which are to be distributed through food banks.
