Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, November 13.
– CBOT corn futures were down on Friday, November 13, with the December contract down nearly four cents, at US$3.5825 per bushel, as the large US supply situation weighed on values.
– The European Union is now pegging this year’s soft wheat production at 149.2 million tonnes, which would be 500,000 tonnes above last year’s record crop and nearly 5 million tonnes above an earlier estimate. Expected barley production was raised to 60.9 million tonnes, from 59.0 million. However, corn was revised lower – to 57.4 million, from 58.4 million in October. The EU grew a record 77.9 million tonne corn crop in 2014.

– Vietnam is suspending imports of grain from Ukraine for 60 days, due to the discovery of weevils in a shipment, according to reports.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$215 to C$220 per tonne area as of November 6, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices are in the C$220 to C$230 range. The low-end bids for both grains were up from the previous week, while the top end of the ranges held steady.
