Feed Grains: Feed barley prices slightly down in Lethbridge

Winnipeg, October 23 (CNS) – Following are a few highlights
in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Monday, October
23.

Feed wheat bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$215 to C$220 per tonne range
as of October 20, which were unchanged from the previous week,
according to the latest pricing information from the provincial
government. Feed barley prices were two dollars weaker at the
low end, coming in at C$208 to C$212 per tonne in Lethbridge.

The Alberta barley harvest was 88 per cent complete
according to the provincial crop report for Oct. 17. Oats were
at 74 per cent complete while there was still some corn left to
harvest in the province.

The recent warm and windy weather helped Manitoba corn
farmers, according to the Manitoba Corn Growers’ Association
(MCGA). In the central and eastern parts of the province MCGA
was estimating 30 to 35 per cent of the corn crop had been
harvested. In the southwest, northwest and Interlake regions the
corn harvest was slowly getting underway.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture 30
per cent of the American corn crop has been harvested. Last year
at this time there had been 44 per cent harvested as of Friday.
