Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, January 22.
– CBOT corn futures were stronger on Friday, with the March contract up 3.25 cents at US$3.7025 per bushel as advances in crude oil provided some support.
– Ukraine exported 200,400 tonnes of barley in December, taking total exports during the 2015/16 crop year to date to 3.56 million tonnes, according to a report from UkrAgroConsult. The barley exports were running about 5 per cent behind the previous year’s pace.

– Feed company Alltech released its 2016 Global Feed Survey on Friday, estimating the total international feed tonnage in the year at 995.5 million tonnes, which would be up 1.5 per cent from the previous year and 14 per cent since 2011. Growth over the past five years was primarily being driven by the pig, poultry, and aqua feed sectors, with increased production in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$205 to C$214 per tonne area as of January 15, which was unchanged compared to the previous week, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$220 to C$225 range, which was down slightly from the previous week.
