Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, October 17.
Prices for feed barley in Manitoba are holding steady, according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Bids are locked in a range of C$3.25 to $3.40 per bushel.
Oat prices in Manitoba fell five cents and are currently going for C$2.90 to C$3.07 per bushel.
Oat prices in North Dakota dropped five cents and are priced at C$2.40 per bushel.

Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$210 to C$212 per tonne range
as of October 13, which were three dollars weaker at the low end compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices were five dollars weaker at the high end, coming in at C$215 to C$220 per tonne in Lethbridge.
It could be a bumper year for India’s wheat crop. The USDA pegs the 2017/18 wheat crop at 98.4 million tonnes. If that holds true it would be a 13 percent increase compared to last year. The yield is expected to be 6.14 tonnes per hectare, which would be a three percent rise over last year.
It appears Kenya will be forced to import more grain this year as the country’s domestic production is poised to fall by six percent, according to a report by Nation Newsplex. The country has been dealing with a severe drought over the past year.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade fell roughly one cent per bushel on Tuesday, as improving weather conditions in the U.S. Midwest weighed on prices. Rain is forecast to fall on some parched regions of Brazil, which was also bearish. The U.S. harvest is 28 percent complete, slightly behind analysts’ expectations of 31 percent.
In North Dakota, corn prices fell three cents per pound, retracing their steps from yesterday, and are going for C$3.13 to C$3.35 a bushel.
