Feed Grains: Ontario winter wheat to set new provincial record

WINNIPEG, August 11 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Thursday, August 11 .
– Ontario winter wheat yields are expected to set a new provincial record, according to reports. Agronomists are predicting yields will break 90 bushels an acre, compared to the current record of 85.5 bushels an acre.
– China’s corn and feed grain imports are set to slump. Domestic prices dropped to a decade low after the government increase to the amount auctioned from state reserves, according to analysts.
– Japan will import 90 tonnes of feed quality wheat and 2,800 tonnes of feed barley, according to Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture. The ministry has sought 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley to be loaded by November 30 and arrive in Japan by January 31, 2017.
– Feed barley in Western Canada remained steady with top prices of C$2.70 to C$4.18 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
