WINNIPEG, May 26 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Thursday, May 26.
– CBOT corn futures were stronger on Thursday, as a rally in wheat, strong weekly export sales, and expectations that some intended acres will go into soybeans instead all provided support. The July contract was up 3.5 cents, at US$4.0825 per bushel.
– India will need to double its own corn production by 2025, due to rising demand from the feed, industrial, and food sectors, said the country’s agriculture minister. Speaking at the India Maize Summit, ag minister Radha Mohan Singh said the country will need 50 million tonnes of corn for domestic consumption by 2025. That compares with total current production in the country of about 24.7 million tonnes.

– South Korea cancelled a tender to purchase 70,000 tonnes of corn, citing high prices.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$205 to C$220 per tonne range as of May 20, which was up by two dollars on the top end, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$236 to C$240 range, which were one to three dollars more than the week before.
