Feed Grains: Russian corn exports keep surging

WINNIPEG, June 13 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Monday, June 13.

– US export sales of corn are ahead of last year’s pace, according to a report. At least 31 countries have placed orders for US corn, as of last week, according to the USDA.

– French barley ending stocks were recently downgraded by FranceAgriMer. Heavy rains have pushed the condition rating of the winter barley crop down from 79% to 78% good to excellent.

– CBOT corn futures finished 7-9 cents per bushel higher on Monday, due to speculative trading. Forecasts calling for dry, hot weather across the US corn belt contributed to the advances.

– Russian corn exports as of July, 2015 to June, 2016, may reach 5 million tonnes, according to officials from SovEkon. If that happens it would break the previous record of 4 million tonnes, according to officials.

– Egypt has purchased 4.8 million tonnes of wheat from its farmers since the country’s harvest began in mid-April, according to the Egyptian farm minister.

– Thailand bought 60,000 tonnes of feed wheat for November delivery, according to trade sources.

– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were around C$205 per tonne range as of June 13, which was down $5-8 from the week before, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$226 to C$240 range as the price range widened slightly from the week previous.
