WINNIPEG, June 7 (CNS Canada) – Turkey’s barley production is forecast to be up 12 per cent in 2017 compared to the previous year, while wheat should increase by six per cent, according to the country’s agriculture minister.

Japan purchased only 14,100 tonnes of feed wheat in its latest simultaneous buy and sell auction, according to reports. It had tendered for 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of barley.

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were higher on Wednesday, as forecasts calling for hot and dry weather across the Midwest over the next week provided support.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$176 to C$183 per tonne range as of May 26, which was an improvement of about three dollars a bushel on the top end compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were down slightly, at C$195 to C$196 per tonne in Lethbridge.
