Winnipeg, October 11 (CNS) – According to 10 analysts,
polled by Reuters Tuesday, the United States corn harvest is 27
per cent done. The poll forecast the corn crop should be rated
at 62 per cent good to excellent, down from 63 per cent the
previous week.
Conab, the official Brazilian crop bureau, is forecasting
corn production will drop by nearly five million tonnes due to
the low returns driving producers to plant soybeans instead.
This will be the smallest amount of corn grown there since 2004.
The 2016-17 corn season set new records for Russia. Russian
exporters shipped more than 5.64 million tonnes of corn to
foreign markets, which is 24 per cent increase from the previous
year.
Feed barley prices held steady overnight in Alberta at $4.51
per bushel, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Feed wheat in
Saskatchewan and Alberta held steady as well at $4.80 per bushel
and $6.12 per bushel, respectively.
