Feed Grains: U.S. barley condition wide ranging but North Dakota, Montana crops struggling

July 11(CNS Canada) – Here are barley condition ratings as of July 9 from the United States Department of Agriculture for the top five barley-producing American states, accounting for 83 per cent of barley acreage in 2016:
– Idaho: 12 per cent poor or fair; 88 per cent good to excellent.
– Minnesota: 16 per cent poor or fair; 84 per cent good to excellent.
– Montana: 29 per cent poor or very poor; 41 per cent fair; 30 per cent good to excellent.
– North Dakota: 24 per cent poor or very poor; 30 per cent fair; 46 per cent good to excellent.
– Washington: 13 per cent poor to very poor, 40 per cent fair; 47 per cent good to excellent.

Corn closed in Chicago at US$4.01.75 per bushel, down .25 of a cent U.S. as investors began selling in wake of highs for September and December contracts.
