WINNIPEG, May 13 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, May 13.
– CBOT corn futures were up on Friday, amid ideas that US farmers may switch up to three million acres out of corn and into soybeans. The July contract was up 1.75 cents, at US$3.9075 per bushel.
– Canada exported 62,400 tonnes of barley and 81,300 tonnes of corn during the week ended May 8, according to the latest Canadian Grain Commission data.

– The United Kingdom posted its largest monthly barley exports in two decades in March, according to data from the UK’s Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board. Total barley exports during the month, of 300,499 tonnes, which was the largest since December 1998. Wheat exports during the month, of 383,226 tonnes, were the highest since November 2011. The weaker pound was cited as a major factor in driving the export business.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$215 to C$218 per tonne area as of May 6, which was steady on the week, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$236 to C$240 range, which was up by about three dollars on average.
