WINNIPEG, August 5 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, August 5.
– CBOT corn futures ended around 3 cents higher on Friday, due to speculative buying.
– Heavy rains and low prices have increased the amount of wheat that will be used for livestock feed this year, according to the USDA.
– Brazilian farmers in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul have reportedly starting planting corn for the 2016/17 season. According to a report by UKAgroConsult the area used for corn-growing around the Rio Grande was minimal.

– Bushel weights for barley grown in South Lincolnshire, England have been lighter than normal. A report in fginsight.com suggested they were still heavy enough to go to market.
– Farmers in Ukraine have made solid progress in finishing their grain crops. Reports from the government say farmers have already threshed 31 million tonnes of wheat, corn and other early grain crops. So far the harvest has been completed in 84% of farmland.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$185-$195 per tonne range as of July 29, which was C$5 lower than the week before, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$200 to C$210 range which was up C$8-$10 from the previous week.
