Feed Grains: US corn outstanding export sales up 31 per cent

WINNIPEG, July 11 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Monday, July 11.

– US corn outstanding export sales for the ongoing market year is currently sitting at a total 11.8 million tonnes, a 31 per cent increase from the same period last year, according to the USDA.

– China’s soybean imports are expected to hit 86 million tonnes in 2016/17. Demand for industry feed and protein is expected to rise due to a recovery in the pork sector and growth in the poultry industry, according to the USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Service.

– Spring wheat and barley ratings in Alberta improved 2 points this week, according to Alberta’s recent crop report.

– Feed wheat prices in Saskatchewan dropped by 40 cents, with prices ranging from C$2.98 to C$3.50 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Top prices in Manitoba and Alberta remained steady, sitting at C$4.50 per bushel in Manitoba and C$6.31 per bushel in Alberta.

– Feed barley remained steady in Western Canada with top prices of C$3.50 to C$4.35 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
