WINNIPEG, Sept. 7 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Wednesday, September 7.
– CBOT corn futures were stronger on Wednesday, seeing some spillover support from a rally in soybeans. The December contract was up 4.75 cents at US$3.3325 per bushel.
– The US corn crop was rated 74 per cent good-to-excellent in the latest weekly USDA report, which was down one point from the previous week.
– Provincial barley grower groups in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, along with the Western Grains Research Foundation are investing C$2.4 million to the barley variety development program at the University of Saskatchewan Crop Development Centre. The funding will help continue research towards improving yield, disease resistance, and malting quality.

– Japan did not receive any offers in its latest tender looking for 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley, according to reports. The next tender is set for September 14.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$166 to C$170 per tonne range as of September 2. Feed wheat prices were in the C$181 to C$205 range.
