Feed grains: US Grains Council releases corn harvest report

Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian
and world feed grains markets on Wednesday, December 30.

– Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were lower in early activity on Wednesday.

– Cash prices for delivered elevator feed oats in Lethbridge are C$189 per metric tonne, according to Newco Grain Ltd.

– The US Grains Council (USGC) released its 2015/16 Corn Harvest Quality Report on Wednesday. According to the report, the overall quality of the 2015 corn crop was better than the average of the previous four crop years.

– This year’s US corn harvest yielded corn with extremely low stress cracks, about three per cent, due to excellent field dry-down conditions at harvest, and limited artificial drying. Susceptibility to breakage should be low compared to previous years, the USGC said.
