Feed Grains: Wet weather improves Australian wheat yields

WINNIPEG, September 2 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, September 2.

– Canada exported 157,500 tonnes of wheat for the week ending August 28, according to the Canadian Grain Handling Summary.

– Recent wet weather has put Australia’s wheat crop on track for a dramatic upgrade with potentially record high yields, according to reports. The wheat harvest this year has been forecast between 24.3 to 29.3 million tonnes, with a central estimate of 27.2 million tonnes, above the 25.4 million previously forecast.

– Spring wheat protein testing in the US is showing slightly above 2015, according to reports. About half of the expected samples have been analyzed and show protein averaging at 14.3 per cent, slightly higher than last year’s final 14.2 per cent.

– Feed barley top prices in Saskatchewan went up five cents to sit at C$2.80 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Manitoba and Alberta top prices remained steady at C$2.75 and C$3.59 per bushel.
