- Statistics Canada reported on Wednesday that farm cash receipts for the first quarter of 2025 totaled C$25.6 billion, up 3.1 per cent from Q1 of 2024. StatCan also issued its preliminary report for farm income in 2024, with realized net income falling almost 26 per cent at C$9.4 billion. Farm cash receipts for last year slipped 1.6 per cent at C$97.9 billion.

- A German court is to rule on Wednesday whether or not a 10-year-old lawsuit filed by Peruvian farmer Saul Luciano Lliuya against German energy conglomerate RWE can proceed. Lliuya contends RWE’s emissions have contributed to the melting of Andean glaciers and increasing the risk of flooding to his home. RWE said a single emitter of carbon dioxide cannot be held responsible for global warming.
- The United States Department of Agriculture reported on Tuesday that as of May 25 the country’s spring wheat was 45 per cent good to excellent, far below trade expectations of 71 per cent. The winter wheat was 50 per cent and the corn came in at 68 per cent G-E. Soybean planting advanced 12 points at 78 per cent finished with half the crop emerged.
- A report on Wednesday said Australia is expecting its next wheat crop to come in at 30.3 million tonnes, down about four million from last year. The USDA projected Australia to harvest 31 million tonnes of wheat in 2025/26.
- Manitoba Agriculture reported on Tuesday that spring planting progressed 18 points to hit 85 per cent complete provincewide as of May 27. Canola surpassed the three-quarters complete mark, and the seeding of spring wheat was almost finished with some of the earliest planted crop at the one tiller stage.
