WINNIPEG, May 16 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.
– The Canadian Farm Input Price Index decreased 0.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2016. The decline was attributable to lower prices for animal production, down 2.1 per cent, specifically livestock purchases, down 6.4 per cent, Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.
– US housing starts dropped in April, according to reports out of the country on Monday.
Last month housing starts fell 2.6 per cent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.17 million units.
