Global Markets: Canada’s Farm Product Price Index rises in June

  • Canada’s Farm Product Price Index was up for the eighth consecutive month in June, rising 3.7 per cent compared to the same month the previous year, according to updated data from Statistics Canada. A 11.3 per cent increase in the livestock and animal products index more than countered the 2.7 per cent drop in the crops index.

 

 

  • United States President Donald Trump’s administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to intervene in its bid to withhold billions of dollars in foreign aid authorized by Congress, part of the Republican president’s effort to scale back U.S. assistance abroad, reported Reuters.

 

  • Protests over corruption and a social media ban left at least 14 people dead in Nepal, as demonstrators clashed with police. A curfew was imposed in parts of the capital, Kathmandu.
