- Hamas is reportedly near a truce agreement with Israel, according to a statement from the chief of the Palestinian militant group, Ismail Haniyeh. If reached, in addition to a pause in the fighting, the deal would likely see the release of around 50 civilian hostages held by Hamas with Palestinian women and children detained by Israel also released from custody.

- Canada’s annual rate of inflation slowed in October, with the Consumer Price Index up by only 3.1 per cent after posting 3.8 per cent growth the previous month, according to a report from Statistics Canada. Gasoline was down by 6.4 per cent during the month and was down by 7.8 per cent on the year, accounting for much of the decline in overall inflation. Food prices were still rising, up 5.4 per cent annually, but that was down from 5.8 per cent in September.
- North Korea launched a rocket on Tuesday in a presumed attempt at placing a satellite into orbit, according to South Korea’s military. While no specific details were available, North Korea has made two previous attempts at placing satellites into orbit that failed due to technical difficulties.
