– Health Canada announced on Thursday it has approved the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for use on children between the ages of six months and five-years-old. The dosage for children in that age group will be one-quarter the amount given to adults. The approval was based on clinical trial data from Canada and the United States and it means that 1.7 million more Canadians will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 shot.
– Russian missiles struck the central Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia on Thursday, killing 23 and injuring more than 100 others. The missiles were fired from a ship in the Black Sea and hit a medical clinic, offices, stores and residential buildings. A United Nations representative from Russia said that one building was targeted because it housed Ukrainian soldiers.

– Today is the deadline for Rogers Communications Inc., Shaw Communications Inc. and Quebecor Inc. to reach a definite agreement on the sale of discount wireless carrier Freedom Mobile. Last month, Rogers said it would sell Freedom to Quebecor for C$2.85 billion in an effort to persuade regulators to allow a C$26 billion deal by Rogers to purchase Shaw. On July 8, Rogers’ wireless services suffered a major nationwide disruption, leaving some customers without Internet connectivity for days.
