- The Israeli military has issued an evacuation order to a million Palestinians living in the northern part of the territory, ahead of an expected ground invasion. Hamas has dismissed the warnings and called for people to stay in their homes. After the Hamas assault on Israel last weekend, which killed over a thousand people, Israel has conducted ongoing airstrikes leaving hundreds of Palestinians dead as well.
- Poland will hold parliamentary elections over the weekend, with the ruling conservative Law and Justice party facing a challenge from the liberal, pro-European Civic Coalition. Polls indicate the Law and Justice party may hold onto power for a third term, although they could lose their majority status in parliament.
- The International Olympic Committee has approved five new sports for inclusion in the 2028 summer games in Los Angeles. Flag football, cricket, lacrosse, squash and baseball-softball have been accepted for the event.
