  • Israeli troops entered Gaza’s largest hospital on Wednesday, searching for Hamas operatives. The Israeli Defence Forces continued to assert that Hamas has its headquarters located in tunnels underneath the Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The IDF also said they used battle tanks to deliver medical supplies to the hospital. The United Nations and numerous countries criticized Israel for pressing its brutal assault towards Al Shifa, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians.

  • The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom unanimously ruled on Wednesday that the Conservative government’s plans to relocate migrants to Rwanda are illegal. The government hoped to send tens of thousands of asylum seekers to the East African country as a means to deter others from coming to the U.K. The court stated Rwanda is not a safe third country.

 

  • Inflation in the U.K. plummeted from 6.7 per cent in September to 4.6 in October, according to a report. Elsewhere, China’s economy grew by a 4.6 per cent last month, while Japan’s gross domestic product contracted during the third quarter, marking two consecutive quarters of declines.

 

  • United States President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will have their first face-to-face meeting in a year on Wednesday. The two presidents will be among the world leaders at the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation summit in San Francisco. Among the issues Biden and Xi are said to discuss are the Israeli-Gaza war, the Russia-Ukraine war, Taiwan’s sovereignty, as well as trade and economic relations.
