– Russia continued to bombard Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, with missile and drone attacks on Thursday, with numerous civilian targets hit. Iranian-made ‘kamikaze drones’ were reportedly used in some of the attacks, although Iran denies supplying the weaponry. Ukraine’s NATO-member western allies have agreed to supply the embattled country with weapons and air defence systems after a meeting this week.
– Consumer prices in the United States were up by 0.4 per cent in September after rising 0.1 per cent the previous month, according to a report from the U.S. Labor Department. The increase in the CPI beat expectations, with annual inflation pegged at 8.2 per cent.
