– Twenty-six-year-old Luigi Mangione was arrested and charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Monday. Mangione was spotted by a customer at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Penn. and arrested by police. Thompson was shot and killed on his way to a company meeting in New York City on Wednesday. When police approached Mangione, they found a gun like the one used to kill Thompson, fraudulent IDs and a three-page handwritten document showing disdain for corporate America. Mangione was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and providing false identification to police.

– Canadian Union of Postal Workers negotiator Jim Gallant told CTV News on Monday the union lowered its wage increase demand to Canada Post down to 19 per cent over four years and dropped its demand to merge urban and rural bargaining units. However, Canada Post said CUPW’s proposals have brought no progress towards ending the strike, which began on Nov. 14.
– Canadian National Railway reached a tentative four-year agreement with the union representing mechanical workers and clerks on Monday. Two weeks earlier, Unifor said two groups consisting of 3,600 workers voted overwhelmingly to begin strike action on New Year’s Day. The workers were calling for improved job security, higher wages and better working conditions.
