  • The North American trade war began overnight, with nearly all Canadian and Mexican goods now facing 25 per cent import tariffs into the United States. Canada has already announced some retaliatory measures, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to speak later this morning about the federal government’s plans. China has also announced plans to increase tariffs on U.S. agricultural goods.

  • Arab leaders were meeting in Egypt Tuesday to discuss a counterproposal to the one brought forward by U.S. President Donald Trump for the future of Gaza. While Trump has called for the complete removal of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, the new plan would see the enclave rebuilt without removing the population.

 

  • The U.S. government has reportedly paused all military aid to Ukraine following President Trump’s clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the White House last week. The White House had no immediate comment on the scope and amount of aid affected or how long the pause would last.
