– While reeling from the resignation of two of his senior cabinet ministers on Tuesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday he intends to stay in power. Treasury chief Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid said they could no longer support Johnson due to multiple ethics scandals, including the latest one involving sexual assault allegations against a senior official within the ruling Conservative Party. Multiple junior ministers and other members of Johnson’s government also resigned on Tuesday. The PM survived a no-confidence vote from his own party’s lawmakers in the House of Commons last month.

– Former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader and current Brampton mayor Patrick Brown was disqualified from the federal Conservative Party leadership race on Tuesday over allegations he broke financing rules. Brown has denied any wrongdoing, saying he learned of his ejection through the media. Brown also suggested his forced exit from the race was done to benefit the race’s frontrunner Pierre Polievre.
– Health Canada tweeted on Tuesday it expects a decision in a couple of weeks on whether to approve Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of six months and five-years-old. The agency said it also received a submission last month from Pfizer-BioNTech regarding their vaccine for children ages six months to four-years-old. Nearly two million Canadian children under the age of five would be eligible for the Moderna vaccine.
