Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, Jan. 28 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was weaker Thursday morning, as volatility in outside financial markets weighed on the currency.
At 8:40 CST Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7791 or US$1=C$1.2835 which compares with Wednesday’s North American close of US$0.7828 or US$1=C$1.2775.
The value of building permits issued in Canada in December 2020 was down 4.1 per cent from the previous month, hitting C$9.1 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down by 1.0 per cent in early activity, at US$53.40 per barrel.
The TSX was up by 140.84 points at 8:40 CST to trade at 17,565.27 points.
