– A woman was beheaded in Nice, France and two others killed in a suspected terrorist attack at a church. The knife-wielding attacker was shouting “Allahu Akbar” (God is Greatest), even while being detained, according to reports. In a separate incident in Montfavet, police shot and killed a man waving a gun and also shouting “Allahu Akbar.” A guard at the French embassy in Saudi Arabia was also attacked. The security threat level in France has been moved to its highest level.

– The United States economy grew at annual rate of 33.1 per cent in the third quarter of 2020, as industries rebounded following the initial COVID-19 outbreak and lockdowns, according to a report from the Commerce Department. However, the economy only recovered about two-thirds of what was lost to the pandemic earlier in the year, with growth thought to be slowing down again in the fourth quarter.
