WINNIPEG, Dec. 22 (CNS Canada) – ICE Futures Canada canola contracts were mixed Friday morning, as traders squared positions ahead of Christmas.

Canadian markets close early on Friday and will remain closed through Christmas and Boxing Day, reopening on Wednesday, December 27. The U.S. futures markets will reopen a day earlier.

A general technical downtrend remains in place for canola, keeping speculators on the sell side. A lack of significant end-user buying interest also weighed on values.

The Canadian dollar was slightly softer in early activity, which provided some support.

The Chicago Board of Trade soy complex was holding steady Friday morning.

About 7,000 canola contracts had traded as of 9:02 CST.
