Nicola Ranch recognized by B.C. Angus Association
The historic Nicola Ranch has been named the 2022 Commercial Angus Breeder of the Year by the B.C. Angus Association, recognizing the ranch’s contribution to the B.C. beef industry.
The ranch, located in B.C.’s southern interior, focuses exclusively on Black Angus cattle. Ranch manager John Parkes told the Merritt Herald the ranch’s cows have been straight Black for six or seven generations. Calving season starts in February.
Nominees must be long-time B.C. ranches, with a herd of Angus or Angus-influenced cattle. While it’s not a strict requirement, the B.C. Angus Association also looks favourably on nominees who buy and market cattle within B.C.
This year, the board voted unanimously to bestow the award on Nicola Ranch. Congratulations to Nicola Ranch for receiving this award.
