The Canadian Shorthorn Association awarded the 2021 Ian McRae scholarships to Taylor Carlson of Elm Creek, Man. and Landon Schutz of Parkland County, Alta. at the Shorthorn Stars Leadership Workshop in January. Carlson is enrolled in the animal science program at Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alta. She plans to work with a feed company, and keep a herd of Shorthorns.
Schutz is enrolled in the animal science program at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, where he is a member of the judging team. He plans to work as a veterinarian and embryologist, along with working with his family’s herd of Shorthorn cattle.
