Doug Haughton’s award-winning entry in the B.C. Ag Expo carcass class.

Congratulations to my good friend Doug Haughton, or as most people know him, “John Deere Doug.” Haughton won the Grand Champion Beef Carcass class award at the B.C. Ag Expo. This show was held Sept. 20–23, in Barriere, B.C., with a full gamut of classes including live cattle, sheep, goat, horse and numerous 4-H events. This Angus steer was Angus sired and came from a cow Haughton purchased from Tanya Belsham of Poplar Meadows fame when they had their herd reduction two years ago.

Haughton has been a strong supporter of the carcass class at both the Provincial Winter Fair in Kamloops and B.C. Ag Expo, and in true Doug style, $500 dollars from the carcass auction have been earmarked for the B.C. Ag Expo beef, sheep and goat carcass class for 2025.
